The sun setting at the Flyer.

The Flyer, my home for the weekend.

The sleigh we used for hauling the logs from the trees we cut down.

Hey look, I'm working.

The group that worked at the camp for the weekend. A few camp workers,  7 guys from Altona  and a few from the city.
ICYA Gem Lake Camp

It was an awesome extra long weekend. started early Friday morning. Only ended up getting to Gem about 1 pm. Started working at cutting wood at 2:30 and had our first and only accident of the weekend on the cutting of the first tree. B was finishing the last cut of the tree and pulled out the chain saw quick as the tree was falling. In doing so he skimmed the front of his left leg just above the knee. After the tree fell he looked out at all of us wide eyed and simply said hey I cut my leg. Every one was not  sure what happened, B started walking towards us and us towards him. He pulled his pant leg apart where he cut it and we saw what looked like a giant gash in his leg (everyone got a bit excited) but it was only a few inches in length. Curt and I went back with B as fast as we could the Flyer to use my first aid kit I had brought. Then Curt took B on a 2 hour trek to the hospital to get it cleaned up and stitched (5 good stitches). From the time they left to the time they got back was 6 hours and we were done cutting wood for the day.

The rest of the weekend was uneventful accident wise. We cut a lot of wood and had a lot of fun. We were able to go on a few snowmobile rides jumping from lake to lake. We got to live out there with out running water and hydro. There was some solar powered battery that did run some lights in the dinning hall. The Flyer was more rustic, with a wood stove and candles for light. It was all so much fun, meeting new people and working to help the camp with getting them enough wood for at least a year.   :)

My Bike.

Had an amazing weekend. Saturday started off as most do with regular stuff, till the afternoon. A friend texted and said remember the old times with spur of the moment trips. I laughed and replied, of course. Then I asked where are you going (time being3 pm.)? Fargo was his reply. I asked Candice if she wanted to go and got a quick response of yes, caught me a bit off guard. 4pm. and we were on the road. Had an awesome visit with an old time friend that we had not seen in just over a year and her family. Did a very short run through Walmart and then off for a late supper (10:30pm.), as we had snacked on the way there. Then the really late drive home.  Got home at 2:30am, wow. All in all it was like old times :)

Had another great ride yesterday. I was ready to try out my new rubber for my bike. A shorter ride north on the creek till we got to this shack. Two of the guys had been there before us to light a fire in the wood stove. We got there after fighting a strong cold north wind. To our delight the guys had also stocked the shed with some beer and chips. Nice. Definitely needed the break with refreshments :). From there the ride back to town was easy and fast ( lol with the wind at our backs), with two guys having a spill on the ice. No spills for me as my new tires held me up.Then back to the clubhouse. A good ride.

Last Saturday Jan 28.

The creek picture at the top is where we went off trail. I love walking the creek in the P V park, a totally different perspective then going trails. It is just more nature and less (lol only word coming to mind ) civilised. Away from people.

This was supper last Thursday night! Steak on the BBQ, it was so awesome. We were all so full. Candice had made twice baked potatoes, Leah brought a wonderful ceasar salad and baked beans :). Had a great time visiting over food and watching Greys Anatomy. After all that it was Thursday night after all and that means Thursday Night Ride with the ABES. Off I went on my bicycle to meet up with the guys. We did an awesome ride south on the creek. In total we did about 16 km by the time we got back to the clubhouse. Half done the creek portion I did not feel the greatest, as the really heavy supper thought about making a come back. Thats what I get for pushing myself so hard trying to keep up with the group. At the end I had enough in the tank to not be the last one back to the clubhouse.
