Good Morning

Ah, another nice morning ride. I could not sleep last night, so I thought about hitting snooze like a bunch of time. Just to get a few 9 min naps in, as that is when I can sleep. I was hearing the birds signing outside and the sun was trying to shine, so I got up for a good morning ride. I did a full lap of the town(from my place to the end of the village to the park and around to Bunge to GVE and back to the village). To my surprise I did not find anyone else out for a walk, run, or ride. Maybe cause it was wet on the ground(thought they might melt?). It was nice to get out there, did a few short rides yesterday too. I'm liking my new bike but still need to ride it with the ABES to see how I do with the group, cause I felt slow today. Hmmm.

New Bike

A time to catch up again. These posts are not going up as consistently as I hoped. Oh well here I go. Start with   a note on Claudia's track. I attended what I could to watch, and got some good pics for another post. She did really good in the high jump placing 3rd. Good job Claudia. Next the awesome tooth ache, That I am still recovering from. Three or four weeks ago the tooth that broke a corner off in December started to really hurt. Turns out I had a giant cavity in it. Went to see the dentist who had one look at it and said "well I had no problem finding that cavity". Then I asked can you PLEASE take it out, and the reply was, sure next week. Oh great was what went through my mind. lol So I waited and got it pulled  5 days later. Yay tooth is gone, but wait the pain did not go away after a few days. Dang. Back to the dentist and oh, turns out there are no dentists  working on Fridays. Off to the hospital to see the doc to get some pills for the infection from where the tooth was. Four days later its starting to feel better.

Went to the Winkler MCC last week just to look around, asked if they had any more bikes out back. The worker brought me to the back of the store to see the store manager. Told him what I was looking for and he tells me " oh, I think there is something like that that was tossed into our metal scrap bin". Cool lets see whats out there.

I found a sweet Sekine from the  70's I think. Put some new bar tape on it and a different seat. Thats it, all I did and now i'm riding it and loving it. Got it for an unbelievably low price of 5$. WOW. Now I can't decide if I want to keep it or sell it. I can clean it up a bit more to get things looking better close up. Hmm. Keep my Norco that is lighter or this sweet vintage ride.

GSAR Training

Riding Mountain National Park was the back drop to the latest GSAR training. April 28 was the day. Planed to be a great weekend, but in the end left me wanting more. There was 2 scheduled searches and some stuff with a helicopter. Found out that morning that the helicopter was not coming. A big disappointment, but the day carried on. We had our briefing when we got to Katherine lake. That's when we found out there would not be a helicopter on cite. Got our GPS start coordinates and off we went. It was a wonderful day to be out in the woods. After our first search was done it was time for lunch and it was great. They served us beef barley soup and sandwiches. Lunch was had with some good conversation  with other GSAR members at the training from other parts of the province. Then it time for some low angle rope rescue training. Of course I volunteered to be the victim, and then we did it again with another person. That was a good review for me, and that turned out to be the end of our day. The drive home was a tiring three and a half hours. I thought my day would end there but it was off to Leah's for coffee and pie. :) A great ending to a long day, some time with a good friend.
